Basic apple pie
|
Ingredients
6 cups Red Delicious apples
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
Ready-made pastry for 2-crust, 9-inch pie
Method
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place apple slices in pastry-lined pie pan.
Mix sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg.
Sprinkle sugar mixture and lemon juice over apples. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust; slit top crust to allow steam to escape.
Brush with additional melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
