STEAMED PASTRY (PATOLLEO)

Ingredients 2 cups fine rice flour 1/2 tsp salt 15 turmeric leaves 3 cups jaggery 3 cups water 4 cups grated coconut 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Method 1) Boil water. Add the salt, rice flour. Cook over low heat, covered for a few mins till the rice is cooked. Keep aside to cool. Then put it over a plate & knead to a soft dough. Add a little water if required. 2) In a heavy saucepan, mix the grated jaggery, coconut & cardamom powder & cook over low heat till slightly dry. Mix well & stir. 3) Now wash the turmeric leaves. Spread a thin layer of rice dough with a finger dipped in water. Put 1-2 tbsps of the jaggery mixture in the centre. Now fold the leaf & press to seal the edges of the dough. Continue with the remaining batter & steam in a pressure cooker without the whistle for 10-20 mins. While eating remove the leaf & eat it.
