2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup granulated sugar 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1/4 cup butter or firm margarine 1 large egg, beaten 1 tsp grated orange peel 3/4 cup orange juice 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries, coarsely chopped 1 1/2 cups golden raisins
Set the oven rack in the middle position. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a 9- x 5- x 3-inch loaf pan. Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a large bowl. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add the egg, orange peel and orange juice all at once; stir just until the mixture is evenly moist. Fold in the cranberries and raisins. Spoon into the prepared pan. Bake for 70 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool in the pan a few minutes, and then remove from the pan and cool on a baking rack.
