INGREDIENTS For Pie Base 180 gms /6.35 ounces Refined Flour 90 gms/ 3.17 ounces Butter/ Margarine a pinch Salt 2 - 3 Tbsps Cold Water For Filling 350 gms / 12.34 ounces Apples peeled and sliced 1/2 Cup or as desired Powdered Sugar 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder METHOD : 1. Prepare pie base as per the short crust pastry recipe, given in basic recipe. Keep around 1/3rd of the dough for the criss cross topping strips. 2. Roll out the dough on the pie dish to cover base and press gently. Prick with fork. Bake at 200 o C/ 400 o F for 10 mins. 3. Cook the apples on fire till it dries up. Add sugar and cardamom powder. Put it on the pastry base. 4. Roll out remaining dough into strips using a pastry/cookie cutter. Put to fit on top of the pie in a criss cross manner as shown in picture. Press it tightly on the edges (With little cold water). 5. Glaze it with slightly beaten egg white/ milk. Sprinkle some castor sugar on it. 6. Bake at 200oC/ 400 o F for 30 minutes or till done. Note: U may sprinkle some nuts of your choice on the pie.
